The Purpose of God in Our Life
Jesus’ last words says “All authority in heaven and on e
arth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
The authority of Christ compels us to preach the word and make disciples. The disciples of Christ are those who grow daily to the image of Jesus Christ.
We have been called to be His disciples and then commanded to make disciples for Christ from all nations. This involves teaching men and women to obey what God has commanded us to do. Therefore we are called to accomplish this mission.
The real meaning of discipleship is making the re-creation of man into the likeness of Christ. This is the purpose of God in all of the scripture. God reveals His glory through the creation of man in His image. God’s image in man is marred by the fall of man. The redemption of man fills the pages of the rest of the Bible….we shall be like him [1 John 3:2] he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son [Romans 8:29-30]. But we all,… are changed into the same image from glory to glory [2 Corinthians 3:18] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him [Colossians 3:10].
God’s agenda in the scripture is to glorify Himself through the recreation of His image in His people. The divine truth which is the word of God, is revealed by God to bring people to Jesus and mold them into the image of Christ. The purpose of our ministry is to make people look like Jesus.
Let us return to the Bible and find the purpose of God in our life.
